Conference Futures Committee Meeting Minutes

Meeting Minutes 10/27/25

Pham met with John Wallace in August to discuss his ideas for the charge of the group.  When he left, Pham spoke to Lorraine and they decided to go with the same charge this year- the potential for recorded sessions at the Conference.  Presenters would have the opportunity to have the option to opt out of this.

We spoke about the pros and the cons of this:

pros

• additional revenue for NJLA
• provides access to other presentations for conference attendees
• small fee to view a session for others

cons

• this may cause the price of the conference to go up
• IT issues- the logistics would be a nightmare
• Would people be hesitant to ask questions, knowing that they were on video?

Karen spoke about the Bookmobile conference and how some of the sessions were recorded beforehand using the Hoova app.  This may be a potential option for us.

Possibly send out a survey to past and current presenters if they would want to pre-record their sessions. (this will be brought up again at our March meeting.)

Since the conference is only a few months away, Lorraine said that we would work on this or another charge for the 2027 Conference.  

The next meeting will be held in March after the NJLA Conference so we can see how it went.
